‘Poniente de Granada’ Protected Designation of Origin 1st Cold Extraction. Natural Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Since 1895, five generations of the Roldan’s family have been dedicating to elaborate a supreme extra virgin olive oil in the ancient Granada province (Andalucia, Spain). This family tradition, the centennial olive trees of the area and the state-of-the art technology create a pure olive juice from first cold extraction that is sold all around the world. Molino de la Calzada, offers you an extra virgin olive oil made with the varieties Picual and Lucio. Lucio is one of the oldest olive varieties dating back to 600 B.C. when the Roman Empire was ruled by Lucio Tarquinio Prisco. Both combined in an olive oil, emphasize its intense fruity smell of green olive with notes of fig and fresh wood. In the mouth it presents a well defined bitterness and itching with an extended aftertaste. A noble oil where the body and character, provided by the Picual variety, are nuanced by the presence of the Lucio.
